GO USA: UStudy International Basketball Showcase

ANNUAL INTERNATIONAL BOYS’ BASKETBALL SHOWCASE
EXPECTED GUEST SPEAKER AND PERFORMER:
HAKIM WARRICK OF THE PHOENIX SUNS

The Go USA – International Basketball Showcase, is an annual exposure event bringing together young amateur basketball players from all over the world with high school and college basketball coaches from the United States. The event takes place on Thursday August 18 and Friday August 19 2011, in The Hague, the Netherlands. UStudy, the Netherlands’ premier college placement agency for prospective student-athletes, will again host this special event. It is brought to you in cooperation with Dutch basketball club ST4R in The Hague, the Netherlands.

WHO SHOULD ATTEND?
UStudy invites all boys in high school or pursuing post-secondary education with an interest in studying and playing high school or college basketball in the US starting in 2012 or 2013. There will be two age groups: age 13-16 and age 17 and up. This event offers a great opportunity for talented basketball players who want to step up to the next level and get an education in the US.

Participating players receive comprehensive information about college study and basketball in the US, including overviews of the American education system, basketball levels, testing, and other application steps, and how to showcase their skills for coaches. In addition, they will receive training from Gerry Freitas, a top American scout from California with the Hoop Review and a former college coach. Their basketball technique, skills, and overall game will be evaluated by Freitas and recorded on video. Freitas’ scouting reports on prospects are well received by coaches in the US. His report will help players to market themselves successfully to coaches in the US. Freitas will be running the clinics with Jamell Smiley, a former college player and currently NBA scout with BDA Sports in the US.

American coaches from NCAA division III and NAIA schools, as well as from junior colleges and high schools, have also been invited to attend, and will be evaluating potential players for their teams.
