Avi-Cenna Hosts Mini-Masters Basketball Camp
It was fun mixed with learning at the maiden edition of the Mini-Masters Basketball Camp held at Avi-Cenna International School Ikeja Lagos. The event which lasted for two days was organized by Akofa Sport Foundation Samaritan’s Feet Nigeria in conjunction with Del Basketball Academy and For-Three Sports Wears.
The Camp had about 50 participants.
Present at the Mini-Masters Basketball Camp were basketball professionals and coaches who took the kids on the basic techniques and skills of the game. This reporter had a chat with the parents of the participants and they never hid their expression on how delighted they were to see their children wards in the camp.
Some of the children expressed how deep their interest for the game was and most of them looked forward to the next camp.
A parent Mrs Olatunde who spoke on behalf of her daughter said ” I’m not a big fan of Basketball, but my 9 year old daughter wouldn’t let me be.She kept persuading me to buy her ball, kits and other materials. Every weekend, she would focus on watching Basketball and will never stop bouncing the ball even in the kitchen”. It was when I saw that the passion was consuming her, I then decided to introduce her to a coach who brought us here. I’m really happy she has come this far.
Other parents who commented expressed concern about sustainability hoping that the organizers of Mini-Masters Basketball Camp will keep the game running in the future.
